BAT POLAND IS LOOKING FOR GTR EUROPE LOGISTICS OPERATIONS MANAGER

ROLE SUMMARY

What are the key objectives and expectations from this role? 

Purpose of the role is to manage logistics and warehouse operation for Global Travel Retail with focus on the European side of the business. The GTR business in Europe pivots around the third-party operated (3PL) central warehouse, finished goods come from various factories and from there they are shipped to GTR customers. All modes of transport (road, sea, air) are used for inbound and outbound. Goods are in duty suspended regime. The successful applicant will be responsible for day-to-day business management, to review, update and manage logistics processes; develop insights and drive action plans for service/cost improvements with internal and external stakeholders.

ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Responsible for the 3PL management of end-market appointed logistics providers and ensures that all locations operate to the business defined standards and ways of working.
  • Manage 3PL warehouse, their performance and service delivery in all aspects.
  • Lead dedicated team in a spirit of expertise, performance, and collaboration. Represent BAT externally. Serve as a role model for the team internally.
  • All operational processes related to the Warehouse and Transport are in the purview: Inbounds, Outbounds, Delivery, Returns, Repack, Rework, Destruction.
  • Responsible for the Repack execution performed by 3PL in Europe WH including process management + Quality + Control. This is unique product related process to GTR as capability and execution sits with the end-market and 3PL warehouse.
  • Represent and drive from the end-market perspective business processes for warehousing, transport, and customs in a way that service to GTR market and customers is at the high level.
  • Own, monitor, and control end-market logistics Daily Direction Setting (DDS) drumbeat: Customer service, Warehouse and Transport.
  • Inventory control. Plan, organize and lead successful stock counts at assigned location(s). Ensure that on-going stock control, cycle counts, and stock reconciliation processes are performed.
  • Work actively with 3PL’s on improving service level and cost effectiveness.
  • Review, update and effectively implement changes in logistics processes and documents. End-to-end process reviews, change management with relevant internal and external stakeholders, and assurance that these work through business-as-usual.
  • Manage, review, and monitor business controls in logistics functional area in general. Notable focus areas are adherence to the standard processes (documents), track and trace compliance, customs compliance, stock control, product handling and hygiene standards.
  • Responsible to plan and manage budgets for assigned business activities, cost centers and projects, including suppliers’ invoice verification.
  • Manage suppliers in line with applicable processes and governance. Typically, this would involve suppliers for warehouse (including repack, rework and destruction), transport, customs, freight forwarding, repack machine spares and maintenance, and consumables used in the warehouse.
  • Attend and contribute to the relevant GTR and functional forums related to the logistics functional area.
  • Take further development of the existing GTR business knowledge data base by incorporating any process changes, new process and/or cascades from the regional/global best practice.
  • Establish and embed a Continuous Improvement culture and Zero-loss mentality within key internal and external stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL

BENEFICIAL

  • Previous experience in warehouse and logistics operations. That experience can be as in-house, in 3PL management role or directly managing 3PL.
  • Previous experience or at least strong demonstrated basic knowledge related to the supply and distribution network assessment, review, and changes. This can be from another category or through academic background.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise and warehouse management systems. Enterprise system knowledge can be SAP, Oracle or similar. WMS experience can be SAP, JDA, Blue Yonder or similar.
  • Understanding and at least basic knowledge of track and trace principles. These can be from other industries, e.g., pharma.
  • Languages: Polish – effectively communicate verbally and in writing in the business context.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATION

  • University degree or Professional qualification, especially in Supply Chain area could be advantage.

LOCATION AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Working hours to cover Central Europe time zone (CET) working hours. Role being based and focused on-site; it is expected presence there.
  • Person is eligible to travel within the European Union. Business travel on average 10% of time on the annual level, which on specific months can be 0 to few days.
  • This role reports to the role based in Singapore, which is 6-7 time zones difference. There is no location sharing. Role owner must be self-driven and with developed management skills.
